Sheffield Council Funding Slashed

Labour learn that there is a 12.6% cut in government grants to Sheffield council next year.

Tory/Lib Dem heartlands such as Dorset, Surrey and Richmond-Upon-Thames, get better settlements, Dorset actually gets an increase in ‘spending power’.

Labour are concerned that the cuts are much heavier in more deprived areas.

Sheffield Liberal Democrats refused to acknowledge this and defended the level of cuts to the authority.

“It’s clearly unfair that at the same time as making heavy cuts to Sheffield, some of the wealthiest areas in the country are hardly touched at all. This just goes to show that we are not ‘all in this together.’” Cllr Julie Dore, Sheffield Labour Leader
