Sheffield Tenants Shunned By Government

Labour been informed that a bid to secure £23m from the Government to complete the Decent Homes Programme in Sheffield has been rejected. The money would have been used for vital Decent Homes projects, investing in improving the homes of many people throughout the City.

Tenants in Sheffield deserve this work completing just as much as everywhere else in the country - there seems to be no reason why Sheffield’s bid was rejected.

“Just like Forgemasters this is another kick in the teeth for Sheffield. Why has Nick Clegg’s Government shunned Sheffield tenants in this way and why is the Lib Dem Council letting him get away with it?  It is shocking that the Government have given Sheffield nothing at all from this £1.6 billion fund.” Cllr Julie Dore, Sheffield Labour Leader
